Background and Aim: Obsession is one of the debilitating anxiety disorders that harm the quality of life, so paying attention to the underlying factors of its formation is very important. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the Role of Religious orientation (external-internal) in the mediation of Self-concept and Distress tolerance in the presentation of Obsessive-compulsive symptoms in Students. Methods: This research is of the correlation type and the statistical population of the research was all the students of the 7th grade of high school in the 2nd district of Yazd in the academic year of 1402-1403. Among them 310 people were selected as a sample through the multi-stage cluster sampling method and applied to answer Yale Brown’s Obsessive-practical Scale (YBOCS) (1989) , Allport’s Religious Orientation Scale (ARO) (1967), Rogers’ self-concept Scale (RSS) (1957) and Distress Tolerance Scale (DTS) questionnaires. Then the data were analyzed using Spss-26, AMOS software, correlation matrix test, and path analysis. Results: The path analysis results indicate that external religious orientation does not have a significant effect on the tolerance of obsessive distress with mediation, and it does not indirectly affect obsession (β=0.006, P=0.374). However, internal religious orientation has a significant effect on obsession with mediation. Self-concept and distress tolerance have a predictive effect on obsession (β=0.047, P=-0.026). Conclusion: As per the results, internal religious orientation can reduce the symptoms of obsession by influencing self-concept and distress tolerance
