Abstract: (766 Views)
Background and Aim: This study aimed to assess the effect of empathy group training based on a cognitive and behavioral approach on social acceptance and self-expression of students. Research Methods: This quasi-experimental research was implemented with an experimental and a control group. The statistical population included all primary school students in district 2 of Kerman in the academic year of 2023-2024. In total, 30 students from two classrooms of two primary schools were purposefully selected out of the statistical population. The data collection tools included Ford and Robin's questionnaire of social acceptance (1970), the Gambrill-Richey Assertion Inventory, and the intervention package of empathy group training protocol based on cognitive and behavioral approach (Vaziri & Lotfi Azimi, 2011). At the inferential level, Cronbach's alpha was used to check the reliability of the questionnaires, and parametric statistics, t-test for independent groups, and covariance analysis were used to check the status of the variables and research hypothesis. The data were analyzed in SPSS software (version 28). Results: The results demonstrated that group empathy training based on a cognitive and behavioral approach is effective in students' social acceptance and self-expression. Discussions: According to the findings, teachers, educational coaches, and parents should place greater emphasis on empathy group training utilizing cognitive and behavioral methods in educational and training workshops.
