Abstract: (926 Views)
Background and Aim: The present research aimed to investigate the effectiveness of schema-based parenting package based on transactional analysis with parenting based on acceptance and commitment therapy in mothers on the children's social competence. Research Methods: This semi-experimental study follows a pre-test–post-test design with a two-month follow-up and includes a control group. The statistical population included all mothers of preschool children in Isfahan city in the winter of 2024, who have visited primary schools and counseling and guidance centers in Isfahan, Iran. To sample 54 mothers with children aged 3 to 6 years based on the entry and exit criteria, three groups were selected in a purposeful way for the implementation of the semi-experimental design. The participants were randomly assigned to two experimental groups and one control group (n=18 in each group). The Social Skills Competency Scale (SSCS- Gresham and Elliott, 1990) was used to measure in the pre-test, post-test and follow-up stages. The colleted data were analyzed using repeated measures analysis of variance and Bonferroni's post hoc test in SPSS software (version 22). Results: The obtained findings indicated the significant effectiveness of the schema-based parenting package based on transactional analysis for mothers of preschool children on the development of children's social competence. In addition, a significant difference was observed between the measurement steps in the two experimental and control groups. In comparing the two approaches, the schema-based parenting package based on transactional analysis significantly enhanced children's social competence, demonstrating stronger effects that have remained stable over time.
Discussions: Considering the effectiveness of the schema-based parenting package based on transactional analysis on the development of children's social competence, it is suggested that effective measures be taken by child specialists to develop educational programs for mothers of preschool children.
