Abstract: (1239 Views)
Background and Aim: The present study was conducted with the aim of evaluating the effectiveness of teaching behavior management to mothers on impulsivity and empathy of primary school students with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.
Research Method: The current research was quasi-experimental. The statistical population of the research included mothers with elementary school students with ADHD disorder who referred to counseling clinics in Shiraz Region 1, and the sample included 30 mothers with elementary school students with ADHD disorder who were selected by convenience sampling method. and were randomly divided into two groups (an experimental group and a control group). In the research, a pre-test-post-test design was used with a one-month follow-up with an experimental group and a control group. The data collection tools included the data collection tools including Barat Impulsivity Questionnaire (1959) and Wosen, Petrovsky and Valkenburg Empathy and Sympathy Questionnaire (2015). Multivariate covariance analysis was used to analyze the data.
Results: The results of the analysis showed that there was a statistically significant difference. The value of effect size (sig) in impulsivity and empathy variable was equal to 0.031 and 0.045 respectively. In this way, it can be concluded that the independent variable (behavioral management therapy) has influenced the dependent variables (impulsivity and empathy).
Discussion: The results of the research confirm the point that teaching behavior management to mothers is effective on impulsivity and empathy of primary school students with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.
