Background and aim: Self-injurious behavior is one of the important concerns in adolescents  mental health, so it is important to study the factors that influence their optimism. The purpose of this study was to examine the predicting Self-injurious behavior on the basis of difficulty in regulating the emotions and self - compassion in adolescents.
Research Methods :This was a correlational study. The statistical population consisted of all the second grade high school students of zanjan in the academic year of 2024-2025.A sample of 500 people (274 females and 226 boys) were selected by cluster sampling. participants completed the functional Self-injurious questionnaire (Klonsky & Glenn, 2009), Self-Compassion Scale-Short Form (Raes, et al., 2011), Scale of difficulty in emotion regulation (Gratz, K. L., & Roemer, 2004). Data were analyzed using Pearson correlation coefficient and multivariate regression in SPSS software.
Results: The results showed that difficulty in emotion regulation and its components, including lack of emotional clarity, difficulty in controlling impulsive behavior, difficulty in controlling impulsive behavior, limited access to emotion regulation strategies and not accepted emotional response, significantly predicted self-injurious behavior . The total score of self - compassion and its components, including kindness to themselves, shared human experiences, as well as extremist, and mindfulness were predicting self-injurious behavior . Self - thinking and isolation have positively predicted self-injurious behavior .
 Conclusion: the findings highlight the important role of difficulty in regulating the emotions and self - compassion in adolescents. preventive and therapeutic interventions for reducing juvenile delinquency can focus on improving emotion regulation skills and strengthening of self - compassion.
