Abstract: (91 Views)
Background and Aim: The rapid increase in self-harming behaviors among delinquent adolescents and its spread in social networks has highlighted the necessity of studying this behavior. Therefore, the aim of this study was to compare the effectiveness of Islamic quality of life education and dialectical behavior therapy skills education on self-harming behaviors in delinquent adolescents.
Method: In this quasi-experimental study, the statistical population included all delinquent adolescents in the Zahedan Correctional Center in 2024. Among them, 60 adolescents were selected through purposive sampling and randomly assigned to two intervention groups and a control group (20 people in each group). The Klonsky and Glynn Self-Harmful Behavior Inventory was used to collect data. The first intervention group received the Islamic quality of life training course and the second intervention group received dialectical behavior therapy skills in 8 60-minute sessions (one session per week) as a group, and the control group was placed on a waiting list. Multivariate analysis of covariance was used to analyze the research data..
Results The results indicated that the use of dialectical behavior therapy and Islamic quality of life training had an effect on improving intrapersonal functions (F=4.89 and p=0.01) and improving interpersonal functions (F=21.30 and p=0.000) in the post-test phase.
Discussions The results of the present study showed that the Islamic quality of life and dialectical therapy intervention prevented the risk of self-harm in delinquent adolescents.
