Abstract: (178 Views)
Background and Aim The rapid increase in self-harming behaviors among delinquent adolescents, alongside their spread on social networks, has underscored the necessity of studying this phenomenon. Therefore, the aim of this study was to compare the effect of Islamic quality of life education and dialectical behavior therapy skills education on self-harming behaviors in delinquent adolescents.
Research Methods This quasi-experimental study included all delinquent adolescents within the Zahedan Correctional Center in 2024 as its statistical population. From this population, 60 adolescents were selected through purposive sampling and randomly assigned to two intervention groups and one control group (20 individuals in each group). The first intervention group participated in an 8-session (one 60-minute session per week) Islamic quality of life training course, while the second intervention group received dialectical behavior therapy skills training over the same duration and format. The control group was placed on a waiting list. To analyze the research data, statistical indices such as M. Box’s, multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA), repeated measures analysis of variance, and post hoc tests were employed, along with an examination of between-group variance.
Results The results indicated that the use of dialectical behavior therapy and Islamic quality of life training had a significant effect on improving intrapersonal functions (F=4.89) and interpersonal functions (F=21.30) in the post-test phase.
Conclusion The results of the present study demonstrated that the intervention combining Islamic quality of life and dialectical therapy helped prevent the risk of self-harm in delinquent adolescents.
